ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The interior reformulation of this traditional narrow terrace has transformed a once dark and divided house into a modern, light and airy space to live, through careful planning and the considered application of colour, light and materials.

The ground floor has become one large open plan living area encompassing lounge, dining area and kitchen, leading to the enclosed stone courtyard ‘fourth space’ via large sliding doors; this has enabled the garden to become part of the house. A traditional room layout is maintained for the first floor of two bedrooms and a bathroom, and the attic which has been converted into an office/guestroom.

Bespoke fitted furniture is integrated throughout the house to maximise available space and unify the design. Surfaces such as gloss spray lacquered MDF, mirrored glass and Carrara marble are all utilised for their highly reflective qualities which, together with sky lights, allow light deep into the rooms and create the impression of space. A considered lighting scheme activates the house and garden at night.
